Rector of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, Prof. Dr. Silfia Hanani, M.Si., welcomed the collaboration between Sabar Training Resources Malaysia and UIN Bukittinggi in fostering soft skills for students. She said, soft skills are skills that cannot be measured or seen, but these skills are needed to be successful in the industrial revolution era like today.
According to the Director of Sabar Training Resources Malaysia, Tuan Haji Syamsul Amri, soft skills are rarely taught in school or college. Yet these skills are indispensable in the world of work, he explained. ‘Graduates are very difficult to compete in the world of work if they do not have qualified soft skills,’ he said when giving a speech at the Assembly of the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement between Sabar Training Resources, Malaysia and UIN Bukittinggi, Monday (23/9/2024), in Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia.
‘Soft skills today are a support for someone who will work or create jobs,’ explained Syamsul Amri who is also the author of the best seller book The Art of Impactful Networking. Among the types and benefits of soft skills for life and future careers, he explained, are communication skills, people management, and problem solving and critical thinking.
For example, students with good communication skills must have the ability to process information obtained either orally or in writing. Moreover, he continued, those who have communication skills can provide information feedback precisely and accurately, and the information can be received and understood easily by other individuals.
